(June 8) After the Bandung stopover, I went back to Jakarta. I stayed at the apartment of 2001 Philippine PY Ron Rada who is based in Jakarta. We tried a lot of fruits which we bought at a fruit shop. And my favorite that night (but no photo) is the Bangkok Durian. Yummy!
Before our fruit trip, we had Nasi Liwet which is rice with chicken, coconut milk and a hard-boiled egg, for dinner. For dessert, it was Es Campur literally means iced mix. In other words, Indonesian halo-halo. They put in kelapa muda (young coconut), avocado, cincau, jackfruit, kelapa kopyor (kaong), and tape (fermented casava). It is then topped with ice, condensed milk and pisang ambon (banana) syrup.
(June 9) The next day, we passed by the Museum Nasional, took a photo at the Welcome Monument, had a late lunch at Plaza Indonesia which included Rujak from Java (assorted fruits with peanut sauce), Pempek from Palembang (large fishballs) and Roti Cane (pronounced chane) from Aceh, and visited the Masjid Istiqlal where I had to wear the cool Muslim robe, and the Gereja Katedral (Jakarta Cathedral).
For the dinner, we had martabak telur sapi, sate ayam and sati babi which was very similar to our pork barbeque, and sop bakut. The goes my diet! :P
(June 10) Didn't do much today. We heard Mass in the morning. Then went to Kelapa Gading Mall where I tried Indonesia's answer to Krispy Kreme, J Co. Donuts. They were much cheaper and more creative. Check out the photos below. Then I ate Tahu Goreng Medan (fried tofu) for a snack. I rushed to the airport for my flight back to KL.
